Pro can extend eligible safes in the background, so you do not have to remember every extension yourself. It also adds unlimited shared safes, custom timelock periods, and one-off extensions. This guide explains how to set them up.
What Pro adds
- Unlimited shared safes. Free includes 2 active shared safes.
- Automatic extension in the background. Extend timelocks without opening the app.
- Custom timelock periods. Choose a period other than 1 week or 1 month.
- One-off custom extensions. Add a custom number of days between regular extensions.
Turn on automatic extension
- Open Account › Automatic extension.
- Switch on New safes by default to enable automatic extension for every safe you share from now on. Existing safes keep their own preference.
- Or switch on Always extend every safe to include every eligible safe you own, including safes created on another device.
While Always extend every safe is on, the default and the individual safe controls stay on and cannot be changed. Turn it off to restore every remembered preference.
Without an active Pro plan the toggles are disabled and the screen shows a View Pro button instead.
Per safe
Each shared safe has its own Automatic extension switch in its timelock settings. When Always extend every safe is on, that switch reads On for every safe and cannot be changed individually.
The iPhone widget
On iPhone, the automatic extension screen shows the card Add the SafelyShare widget with the text The widget gives SafelyShare more chances to run in the background. Tap Show me how for a short recording and instructions. Depending on your iOS version, you will see two or four steps, from holding the app icon to choosing a widget size.
iPhone decides when apps may run in the background. Adding the widget gives SafelyShare more chances to run. The widget also lets you extend one safe or choose Extend all without opening the app. It then shows which safes were extended and which still need attention.
On Android
On Android, SafelyShare can periodically refresh eligible safes while your subscription is active. Background extension uses the last eligible-safe list synchronised by the app, so open the app now and then after you change which safes should be extended.
Custom intervals and one-off extensions
- A custom default. Account › Default timelock offers Custom · Pro with 1 to 365 days.
- A custom interval per safe. The same choice appears while sharing, so one safe can run for 10 days and another for 200.
- A one-off extension. The extend screen for a shared safe lets you add any number of days to the current key date.
Good to know
- Automatic extension is best-effort protection. The operating system decides when background work runs, so keep your reminders on as a safety net.
- Only safes you own and that are still locked are eligible.
- Automatic extension stops when the subscription stops; manual extension always remains available.
- Extending early never shortens the timelock. Added days start from the current key date.
